The Gallup Organization polled new homeowners of both
existing homes and new homes and found that landscaping adds 14.9% to
the value or selling price of their home on the average.
95% of real estate appraisers agreed that landscaping
adds to the dollar value of residential real estate.
86% said that landscaping adds to the dollar value of
commercial real estate.
Not only does landscaping add on an average 14.9% to the
value of a home, it helps screen unpleasant sights and sounds, cleanses
the air by absorbing ozone and producing oxygen, in addition to helping
to keep temperatures down.
Landscaping can have a recovery value as high as 200% if
correctly done.
75% of home buyers first impressions are made by what is
called "Curb Appeal" of a property. That is... the way a home
looks from the street first. First impressions can only be made once.
Original research by the Gallup Organization Trendnomics
and the National Gardening Association finds that:
"The importance of a correctly installed landscape
should not be taken lightly. Consider the company's experience,
knowledge, type of warranty, the company's ability to listen and the
willingness to implement your ideas into that landscape, explanation of
why certain plants are chosen for that particular area or for a certain
effect in the setting. Be sure your landscaper is willing to coordinate
with all outside contractors such as fences, decks, swimming pools and
much more so you won't have to worry about who or what should be
done".
