Sprinkler Certification

City codes in many towns including Derby & Wichita require that all backflow devices be certified yearly and rebuilt every 5 years.

All cross connections made to city water are required to have a backflow device, which prevents outside contaminants from entering the drinking supply. Tendercare will not & can not turn on any sprinkler systems hooked to city water in any locations that require certifications without certifying the system. Proper certification will be given to the proper agency, business or homeowner & kept on file with Tendercare.

If you have any questions about whether you need a certification please contact us as we have certified backflow testers on staff.

The PVB (Pressure Vacuum Breaker) is the most commonly found backflow preventer in our area. It is easily recognizable, mounted on pvc pipe approximately 12 to 18 inches from the ground.

The RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) is used when there are special circumstances such as a booster pump or large elevation changes around your property. It is most commonly found in commercial applications, although it is used in residential sprinkler systems from time to time.
