When you take care of your lawn and landscape in the fall, you are setting up for success in the spring. With warm, dry soil and cool temperatures, the atmosphere makes it easy to work on your lawn.
A few things you should do to keep your lawn in tip-top shape include:
1. Remove Fallen Leaves
While the fallen leaves are beautiful to look at, they aren’t great for grass. They block the light and trap in moisture, which can hurt the turf underneath. Continue to blow or rake away the leaves throughout fall to protect your lawn.
2. Don’t Stop Mowing
Grass will continue to grow up until the first hard frost, so continue to mow your lawn or else it could be vulnerable to fungi and snow mold.
3. Add Fertilizer
Late fall is ideal for adding a slow release fertilizer to your lawn. It will help aid in root growth, protect from diseases, and provide cold resistance.
