Let your garden thrive this summer! Every crop is different and may require unique maintenance, but we’ve put together a list of a few all-encompassing tips that will help any garden bed. Take a look!
1. Deadhead Dying Plants
When blooming plants start to shrivel up, practice deadheading, or cutting off the flowers of the plant that are dying. This will prolong the life of your plants, encourage healthier growth and encourage more growth in your flower beds.
2. Water One Inch Per Week
We recommend placing a rain gauge in or near your garden to make sure your plants are getting the water they need. A good rule of thumb is to ensure they get one inch of water per week.
3. Mulch Garden Beds
Consider adding mulch around the base of each plant in your garden as well as your shrubs and trees. Mulch helps keep weeds down, prevents diseases, keeps the soil cool and helps keep pests away.
4. Keep Weeds Under Control
If you’re seeing weeds pop up in your garden, get them out as soon as possible. They will steal vital nutrients and water from plants.
