Think your watering days are over until spring and summer? Think again! Your plants and lawns may suffer this winter if they’re not getting proper irrigation – especially new plants and lawns.
The state of Kansas has had unseasonably warm weather and strong winds this winter, combined with a lack of rainfall, which has the potential to damage your landscape. Winter watering is important right now, especially for evergreen plants, newly planted trees and shrubs, and young plants less than five years old.
If you haven’t already, consider pulling out your garden hose to prevent winter drought injury. It’s important to keep in mind that even if your irrigation systems have been blown out, you may still need to water, and most landscaping warranties do not cover lawns and plants not getting proper water.
