Repair Your Lawn by Overseeding

October 14, 2021, 8:06 am | Lawn & Tree Care

Do you have dry and brown grass? Did your lawn go downhill over the summer? It’s time to overseed! Right now, the soil is still warm, which will allow the grass to take root and grow lush in the spring.

It’s important to remember that not all grass seed is the same. Our overseeding crews at TenderCare use only Blue Tagged certified seed that has been designed specifically for our region. If you are struggling to find the best seed for your lawn, we’re happy to help!

Before overseeding, make sure to measure your lawn to ensure you get the right amount of seed and fertilizer. Then, mow your lawn 1 or 2 notches lower than normal and remove extra debris. This will help the grass seed make better contact with your soil.

When you’re ready to apply the seed, rough up the bare spots in your lawn and use a “spinner” type spreader to apply the grass seed. You can always go back and apply extra seed by hand to bare spots.

Once the seed is applied, remember to water regularly. The ground needs to be consistently moist for the grass seed to germinate. If the ground is properly watered, you should see baby grass popping up in no time!

Unsure of what your lawn needs? Let our experts help! We’ll make sure your seed is applied at the proper setting. Contact us today to schedule service.
