Plant Spring-Blooming Bulbs
If you plant bulbs this fall, your garden beds will come alive with beautiful color next spring! Select a section of your landscape that receives continuous sunlight and dig the soil to the depth indicated on the bag of bulbs you purchase. Don’t forget to water them in well!
Add New Mulch
Applying a fresh layer of mulch atop your garden beds before winter arrives ensures that your soil stays insulated and protects plants’ roots. Avoid using dyed wood varieties that can leach chemicals into the soil. Besides, why not mulch now so it’s one less task to do next spring?
Empty Container Pots
Many homeowners use plastic or ceramic container pots during warmer seasons, which can contract and expand under extreme temperatures. We recommend that you toss out dead plants and empty the soil from the container before storing them in the garage for the winter.
Apply Cool-Season Lawn Fertilizer
Wise homeowners know that taking care of the yard is a year-round job meant for the pros! When you enroll in our six-application Complete Lawn Program, our lawn experts apply winter fertilizer for early spring green-up. Pre-pay for your Lawn & Tree Program on or before December 4, 2020 and get 10% off your services.
Winterize Water Features
Take the necessary steps to prep your pond or fountain before temperatures dip to frigid lows. Assuming you don’t have fish in your pond, cut back any dead vegetation, empty the pond halfway, and add a protective netting atop to keep debris out. If you have a fountain, drain all of the water, remove the pump, and use a protective cover.
By putting in a little sweat equity now, the spring season will be a breeze! We encourage you to contact us if you have questions.
