TenderCare offers complete service and repair on existing systems, from broken pipes to complete renovations. If your system is more than five years old, let our experienced staff evaluate the efficiency that your system delivers with an irrigation audit. Today’s irrigation controllers, valves, sprinkler heads and monitoring devices can actually help the environment in saving on wasted water as well as saving on your water bills.
Sprinkler Certification
City codes in many towns, including Derby and Wichita, require that all back flow devices be certified yearly and rebuilt every five years. All cross connections made to city water are required to have a back flow device, which prevents outside contaminants from entering the drinking supply. TenderCare will not and cannot turn on any sprinkler systems hooked to city water in any locations that require certifications without certifying the system. Proper certification will be given to the proper agency, business or homeowner and kept on file with TenderCare.
- PVB
- The Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB) is the most commonly found back flow preventer in our area. It is easily recognizable, mounted on PVC pipe approximately 12 to 18 inches from the ground.
- RPZ
- The Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) is used when there are special circumstances such as a booster pump or large elevation changes around your property. It is most commonly found in commercial applications, although it is used in residential sprinkler systems from time to time.
Winterization
Kansas weather can be quite unpredictable. Temperatures can be warm in early October and turn frigid any time thereafter. TenderCare’s goal is to stay one step ahead of mother nature and help you protect your system by winterizing. However, TenderCare is not responsible for freeze damage caused by cold temperatures before your scheduled blowout time. It is the customer’s responsibility to be aware of falling temperatures and take necessary precautions to properly cover their PVB back flow device.

- Due to unpredictable weather, we will not be accepting appointments for winterization after December 1.

Make sure your lawn looks beautiful all year long and schedule an irrigation startup in early spring! We usually begin irrigation startups in March as part of our irrigation packages.
